Builders Sand and Cement Company was established in 1853 as a building supplies company, supplying the Davenport area with sand, gravel and coal products. In the early days, Builders used horses and wagons to deliver these products and to dredge sand from the Mississippi River. In the 1930’s, Builders played a large part in supplying materials for the construction of dams, locks and bridges on the Mississippi River.
Today, Builders Sand and Cement Company maintains the proud traditions established over 150 years ago - supplying quality construction products with an outstanding level of service. We dispatch a fleet of 30 ready mix delivery trucks from our computerized batch plants located in Davenport, Iowa and East Moline, Illinois.
We have had the privilege of supplying materials for the construction of many Quad City Landmarks. Recent projects include the Rock Island Justice Center, Iowa American Water Freewell Addition, expansion of ALCOA’s Riverdale Plant, the new John Deere Parts Distribution Center, the Isle of Capri Casino Hotel and Parking Ramp Expansion, the Milan Beltway and the Rock River Bridge Expansion project on Interstate 280, the Weigh Stations on Interstate 280, Hy-Vee Stores throughout the Quad-City area, the two Super Wal-Mart Stores in Davenport, the new Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, the many major retail stores and buildings along Elmore Avenue and East 53rd Street in Davenport, the Bettendorf Veterans Memorial Park, the John F. Baker Memorial at Jumers Casino in Rock Island, and the new Kone Building in downtown Moline.
